A BRIEF BIO -
Clint Didier grew up on an irrigated farm located in the Columbia Basin Project near Eltopia, Washington. He learned from watching his parents build a farm from sagebrush and sand that eking out a living on the land involved hard work and perseverance. After graduating from Connell High School, Clint attended Columbia Basin Jr. College for two years. At that time, CBC participated in a junior college football program. Although Clint loved the sport of football, he realized at 6’5", yet only 165 pounds, it was unlikely he would meet the physical requirements to be a part of the CBC program. So, he developed a dedication to the weight room along with a weight-gain program, which would pay off later on. Clint also had to compete with a history already established by an older brother who excelled in every sport. During those early football days, Clint was told many times, he did not have the talents needed to play professional football. Clint believed otherwise and never deterred from his dream of playing in the pros. Upon obtaining his AA degree from CBC, Coach "Mouse" Davis of the famous "Run and Shoot" offense at Portland State University, recruited Clint to join the PSU football team. He later confided to Clint his invitation had been based on the perseverance and dedication he saw in Clint while attending a football camp. Clint finished out his education at Portland State exiting with a degree in Political Science. After graduation, Clint was drafted in the 12th round by the Washington Redskins. This led to a seven-year career with the Redskins including participation in three Super Bowls, followed by two more years with the Green Bay Packers. ![]() When Clint retired from the NFL in 1990, he and his wife, and four children – daughter, Brandie, and sons, Travis, Justin, and Zachary – returned to farming in Eastern Washington, where they bought their first farm north of Pasco, near the original family farm. In addition to the farming operation, Clint also owns and operates an excavation company. Believing in the American dream that afforded him such a great opportunity, Clint committed nine years to coaching in the Connell High School football program. During those nine years, Connell won two state championships and two second-place finishes. He is a long-time member of the WA State Farm Bureau and has been active in local politics. |
Our founders were wise men who laid out the original “game plan” for America – our Constitution – based on their knowledge of thousands of years of world history. The issues we face today cannot be properly addressed without first recognizing and honoring this document. We became the most prosperous nation in world history because of this profound new governing concept.
The founder’s goal was to honor and uphold individual liberty as America’s highest ideal. We do not have a right to succeed; we have a right to pursue success. By leaving citizens unencumbered by countless rules and restrictions, the founders knew this free “marketplace” of ideas would allow people to attain a better way of life through trial and error in a free society. All is now in jeopardy as the federal government has grown far beyond its original scope, intruding into every personal area of our lives. I am not a politician. I am a farmer and former NFL football player who has benefited greatly from the opportunity America has given me. Yet, I now see that opportunity slipping away from my children, and yours, as government continues to grow into such a fearful taskmaster. Those who say the Constitution is no longer valid today simply do not understand it is a set of established principles. Principles put in place to protect an earlier set of values spelled out in our Declaration of Independence. In football terminology, not following our Constitution would be like throwing out all of the basics of football and still hoping to win the game. Any football coach will tell you when his team begins to flounder and lose on the field; he turns them back to the basics. That is where America needs to go today – back to our Constitutional precepts. I’m running for the U. S. Senate because I will not stand by and watch the future of our children be squandered by those who have lost respect for the fruits of the people’s labor – those who arrogantly believe they know how to spend your money better than you. Many would have you believe it’s so complicated we need experienced politicians to lead us. However, that belief causes us to keep re-electing career politicians who soak up the perks and privileges. Meanwhile our freedoms shrink, our tax burden increases and the American Dream fades. It is true; I have no experience in public office. Haven’t we elected enough “experience”? Is it working for us? I’m running as a Republican only because I believe in the tenets of the GOP platform. But, make no mistake, I’m fully aware existing Republican leadership has failed to lead and has given us much of the same as the Democrats. It’s not about party; it’s about principles and convictions. What do you gain if you elect someone with all the right rhetoric, but lacks the courage to carry out his, or her, convictions? I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe and speak out when I see things are going the wrong way.
