Hey Team Didier:
If you couldn’t get through to the telephone Town Meeting Thursday, July 29, you weren’t alone!
It looks like we may have been TOO successful getting the word out. Our phone vendor tells us that there were so many incoming calls that the entire phone system crashed!
We were set up to handle 15,000 calls, but we have no way of knowing how many more of you than that tried to get through.
My apologies to you who couldn’t get through. I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to take your calls, but we will be holding another Town Meeting in the next few days with another campaign announcement. We’ll post the information soon.
In the meantime, listen to the new song some friends wrote about me. It’s called “Hell to Pay (Didier’s D.C. Song).” Share it with friends if you like it.
Clint

READ SEATTLE TIMES ARTICLE ON TOWN HALL MEETING

“We are making a joint announcement tonight. We decided that it was so important that we would take the step of two candidates in the same race joining together. This is unprecedented in political campaigns. We are competing for the same position, but yet we felt it was important enough to join together in a common message.
“There are 2 parts to the announcement –
“First, to warn voters about what’s going on in this, some things that they may not know about if they just read the mainstream news coverage.
“Second, we are announcing that not only are we holding this town hall tonight to talk about it, but that we are also PRODUCING AND RUNNING JOINT RADIO ADS WITH OUR MESSAGE.
“Both Paul and I have actually been out campaigning across the state of Washington for months now – talking to thousands of people, getting to hear from them about their concerns.
“And what we have both heard is that people are angry….they’re angry about the direction of the country.
“They’re angry that politicians have sold them out.
“They’re angry that their children and grandchildren will foot the bill for trillions of dollars of irresponsible spending and government expansion.
“They have a sense that they are losing control of this country – and that if something isn’t done this year, they will never get it back again.
“And whom do they blame?
“Mostly, they blame the politician -- both democrat and republican.
“They feel like they are knocked around by the political establishment, and used as pawns in a political power struggle.
“But people are ready to take back control of this country, of this government.
“But they need a fair chance to do that.
“And as long as the party establishment refuses to recognize what is going on with the public, it will be that much harder to do.
“So I have a message for the party establishment – both here in Washington state AND back in Washington DC…
“Back off!
“You’ve been trying to pick the candidate for Washington voters since this campaign began.
“You’ve taken millions of Washington DC. & Wall Street – lobbyists’ special interest money to try to buy votes and swing this campaign….
“You’ve tried to hide the fact that I can win the race against Patty Murray with a whisper campaign ….oh it sounds nice enough….you say “Clint Didier is a great guy, and would make a great Senator….but he can’t win.”
“You tell everyone that a real conservative – someone who looks to the Constitution as the game plan for this country can’t win in Seattle & King County…
“But here’s the truth:
“The truth is, that this year – finally -- a multi-million dollar war chest won’t get you votes if you don’t have the right candidate and the right message. In other words, if you aren’t the “real deal.” People aren’t buying it any more. Just ask Sharron Angle and Rand Paul!
“And the truth is…that a real conservative – who follows the Constitution and sticks up for “We the People” not “We the political establishment” has never run in Seattle and Puget Sound.
“And the truth is …I CAN win against Patty Murray. The latest Rasmussen poll shows me beating Patty Murray by 48% to 45%. And yes, it does show Dino with 48% as well.
“But what that means is that you don’t have to compromise your vote – if you’ve been thinking about voting for Dino because they’ve told you “only he can win” then forget about it. Vote for the person you think is the best one for the job.”
Dear Friend,
Where else but America can the son of a potato farmer from a small town in eastern Washington rise to play in the stardom of a Super Bowl? I’ve been blessed by the opportunity that comes with being an American.
Following my NFL career, I came home to work the farm, coach other young men, and now to repay a debt to my country for what it’s given me. I’m running because I want all kids to have the same shot at becoming champions in their own way.
Every NFL game starts with a “game plan.” Follow it, you win; don’t follow it, you lose. It’s that simple.
Our founders had a game plan too. It’s the Constitution. They believed that government should be limited in size and scope. Today, we’re failing to follow their plan, allowing our national government to grow enormously, now intruding into every intimate area of our lives. With that intrusion comes a price tag Americans are now realizing they can no longer afford.
I want to return our country to the basics - opportunity and personal responsibility, which leads to individual liberty - America’s highest ideal.
I would be honored to serve you in the U.S. Senate.
Sincerely,
